Love Without Conditions

I remember the moment they placed her on my chest after she was born. As she gazed up at me in silence with her piercing blue eyes I just stared at her in admiration and wonder, looking over and inspecting every little toe and fingernail. You could feel the sense of relief we both had as we finally got to see each other face to face after 9 long months of sharing such a miraculous bond. I knew then that this love was one I hadn’t felt before. It was different that all the other kind of loves that had filled my heart the previous 24 years. This was a love without conditions. I thought to myself  “she could be the worlds biggest failure, mess up over and over, break my heart into pieces and yet I will never stop loving her just as I do in this moment.”

My husband was talking to a friend last night about unconditional love. It took me back to this night when my first daughter was born and the realization that both of us had. We both had a new understanding of what unconditional love really meant. The love a parent possesses for a child is miraculous, it’s divine, and has no other comparison except for the way that God loves us. Here is an image of the night my angel was born, the night I came into a new understanding of God’s love:

Also this week I had another Etsy item to display. My friend Joey let me use her beautiful 7 day old baby boy Carter to do be my model. His mommy is radiating with joy and filled to the brim with overwhelming unconditional love.
