Happy Birthday Princess

I remember the moment so vividly when the doctor looked at me and said “Its time, your in labor!” He walked out of the room to go notify the hospital to prepare a bed for my arrival. Tyler and I looked at each other with anxious grins on our faces and butterflies in our stomachs. I hadn’t felt overwhelming anticipation to that degree ever before in my life. I knew I would walk into that hospital as who I was in that moment and come out forever changed.

Today, the beautiful soul that has changed my life in ways I never knew possible, is turning the ripe age of 3. She in fact is the reason I started this adventure of photography. I didn’t want to miss one moment. I wanted to remember… every smile, every look, every pouty face, every event. She brings light to my life and inspiration to know I can do anything I want to do.

Happy Birthday sweet Eden. Your mama loves you beyond what words can describe. I can’t wait to see the amazing beautiful woman you become. I pray you bring light to those around you, always dream big, always believe in fairytales, and have confidence in the amazing girl you are.

The Low Down

I was asked a couple weeks ago by the amazing Shannon Holman to be interviewed on the Maternal Lens Blog. I almost replied “really, you want me???” So many amazing photographers that I greatly admire and respect have been interviewed on this very same site. I am so incredibly humbled and honored to be featured on their weekly Low Down Throw Down. Some of the questions had me reflecting back to when I first started out and how far I have come since picking up that first DSLR and trying to figure out where the eye hole was. God has been so good and blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. To do something I love that gives me so much joy and build a business off of it… its beyond me.

Below is a recent senior session, Ms. Sydney. This beautiful girl could be my poster child. Her look, her clothes, her poise ooze everything that I love. Remember THIS post? I talked about finding your style and sticking with images that make your heart sing. My heart was belting during this shoot and post processing. Sydney has a beauty from within that beams out of her and a light that that shines from her eyes.

3 Little Sunbeams

I have been oh so behind on blogging lately and I hate it. One of my main goals this year was to make sure I stayed up to date on my blog and didn’t just blog sessions, but shared who I am with all of you. Lately, I am lucky if I get half of my sessions blogged. Life has been keeping on my toes. Raising babies, building a house, and being as busy as ever with sessions, there hasn’t been a whole lot of time left in the between. I promise I’ll be a better blogger in the winter when life slows down. For now, I’ll leave you with some delicious sunlight and 3 beautiful children.

A First…

I have been terrified of shooting weddings in years past. The pressure of such a momentous day made me sweat just thinking about it. What if I missed the first kiss? What if I tripped and fell when the father was giving his daughter away? What if my car broke down on the way to the reception? What if my hard drive crashed and I lost all the photos? What if the couple hated the photos? There are no do-over in weddings and the pressure has kept me away from them. However this year I decided to put my big girl panties on and try one out. Who knows, maybe I would fall in love with wedding photography? There is no way to know unless you try. So I decided to try out a wedding this year and when my friend Elisa asked me to do her wedding, no expectations, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at it.

I came fully prepared. Three bags of gear, second shooter (thank you Courtney!!!), shot lists, schedules, and lots of excitement!! The day ended up being nothing short of amazing. The privilege and honor I felt to be able to capture one of the most important days in someone’s life is beyond what words can describe. My connection with my friend’s Robert and Elisa grew to a new level as I was there during some of the most emotional and intimate moments, preserving them for their families history. I found myself fogging up the back of the camera during the ceremony trying to hold back tears so that I could stay focused.

The union I witnessed that day was so pure, so selfless, and completely divine. Thank you so much Robert and Elisa for allowing me to capture some of the most cherished moments of your new life together. I wish you all the best and love you dearly!
